MAY THE 4TH…
Can you guess what I’m excited for? May the 4th is a day for nerds world-wide to celebrate their love for Star Wars, or at least gloat on Facebook with “May the 4th be with you” witty remarks.
Whatever the reason you’re celebrating, I hope it’s a good one!

Decoupage Comic Box
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
First off, let me apologize for the lack of posts this past week. Long story short I got laid off last week and then a family friend was severely injured in Afghanistan and so my attention was elsewhere. Now that I’m back in a state of creativity, I’ve got plenty of posts coming up as I’ve got a lot of free time on my hand for the time being.
Today’s craft came to me while wondering at my local craft store. I used to decoupage boxes all the time when I was younger and I figured it’d be a great way to celebrate “May the 4th” (tomorrow) with a Star Wars decoupage box. 🙂

The party was a HUGE success
Despite the bad weather we’ve been having here in Dallas the past few days, 15 people turned out for our Dr Who party (out of 20-something who RSVPd) and everyone really had a great time. People came in costumes and Dr. Who shirts and plungers in hand.
Chocolate & PB Dalek Cupcakes
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
Yup… you heard right! Chocolate. Peanut Butter. Daleks. So delicious and rich, you’ll find yourself exterminating the Daleks themselves. Or as the man of the house said, Extermi-nom-nom-nom!
I really wanted a good Dalek Cupcake for the party. I’d seen lots of versions on the internet, but none of which I thought looked that great. Determined to make on better, we spent a week going over options. Then we saw the mini muffin liners while at the grocery store and it all came together. Mini Cupcakes with mini Reese’s!! Obviously it was a success. Victory!!
I finished a test batch of cupcakes for our party this weekend. Since Passover starts tonight at sundown, I won’t be able to eat any cake for a while, and decided to go ahead and get these out of the way while I could still indulge.
** This recipe took a lot of time, patience and space in the fridge. If you plan on making a big batch, be sure to keep at least one shelf free in your fridge. I made a batch of 11 (one didn’t make it) and it was a tight squeeze. If you are serious about making these, I’d make sure you have a few hours to be able to focus your attention on it. My new favorite Android App
The man of the house has learned long ago that he can’t leave his smart phone unattended for long before I’ve kidnapped it and adopted it as if it were my own. I still don’t have the money to get one for myself, so the man has graciously shared.
With all the android apps and games floating around, you think my favorite app would be something useful, like a bar-code scanner or converter of sorts. Maybe even a Pokedex? But no, my new favorite app is one of the more recent apps released by Google Labs.

Origami Bow Tie
As I hinted before in my previous post, I’m throwing a Dr. Who party this month for the series premiere starting April 23rd on BBC America. Since the man of the house and I are throwing a party, I’ve gotten entirely in the spirit of Dr. Who and will be whipping up a ton of favors, food and drinks for the event. And what better way to start it off than with Bow ties!
You’ll need the following supplies:
- Red Construction paper
- Craft Glue
- Scissors
- 1″ bar pins with adhesive backi ng
- A lot of patience
This design will take you about 15-20 minutes. The hardest part for me was getting the origami part down. I recommend you use some computer paper for the first test runs until you’re comfortable enough to do it with the construction paper. I do not recommend using card-stock. Continue reading
Busy moving, no time for DIYs today.
With the move tomorrow, I’ve stayed up way beyond my bedtime to get some last minute cleaning squared away (or at the very least, attempted). So in my absence of something crafty and sci-fi, here’s a photo I edited of some starfish.
Who would’ve thought they’d have so much to say?

Hello world!
It seems like I’ve started more blogs than I have toes on my feet (I assure you I have the normal amount) and yet I never have the guts to publish anything I write. I suppose a bit of writer’s anxiety has been holding me back. However, spring is in full bloom and with a ton of change coming my way, I figure one more try can’t hurt.
…And thus, I give you Jedi Science!
…. No, it’s not really a blog about science, but rather a tribute to my love of all things Star Wars and Sci-fi. I’m mega huge into crafting, organizing my cluttered things, LEGOs and technology. Cardboard is my favorite medium and I feel that Duct tape is a gift from god. I’d love for you guys to get a great sense of inspiration from my blog, if not encouragement to let your geek out every once in a while. My focus is to post DIY crafts, some cool tech how-to’s and maybe some personal memoirs on the growth in my life.
So please, do stick around. I promise some great things this month.
(hint hint, I’m throwing a Dr. Who party on the 23rd and there will be plenty of recipe and craft posts leading up to the event. Also, a flying shark. 8] )
